If you are taking our Hair Growth Nutraceuticals containing biotin, consuming an additional Biotin supplement may not be necessary. While biotin is a component of hair, skin, and nails, biotin supplementation alone has not been shown to be effective in promoting hair growth. While evidence to support that excess biotin (5,000+ mcg) well above normal limits improves hair growth is scanty at best, supplementing with biotin is generally considered safe. However, in 2017 and 2019, the FDA put out warnings that excessively high biotin consumption can cause false lab results, and it is now generally recommended that patients who have consumed 5,000-10,000 mcg of biotin wait a minimum of 8 hours before having blood collected for laboratory tests. Additionally, we recommend you consult with your doctor about waiting a minimum of 72 hours hours before having blood collected for laboratory tests if you have a thyroid condition.
As with any new supplement regimen, consult your trusted healthcare provider for specific questions and concerns or are taking medications.
